See You At Work Tomorrow (tvN, 2026) is an enjoyable Korean drama series that is perfect for working people who are feeling burned out, fed up with the political system in their office, or simply questioning their career path as they slog to work every day. This story is also suitable for viewers who love romance, one that is a mature and non-pushy romance. It develops slowly in this K-drama, and is certainly not an "Insta-love" story ... though perhaps an "Insta-Intrigue" description would be more like it, especially on the male lead character's part, as he marvels at how brilliant the female lead character's work talents and ethics are on display daily.
Our two lead actors are the always wonderful Seo In Guk (Master's Sun, The King's Face, Love Rain, Squad 38, I Remember You, Boyfriend On Demand, Another Parting, Soundtrack 1, She Was Pretty, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes) and the genteel beauty Park Ji Hyun (Do You Like Brahms?, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, My Secret Terius, Saimdang Memoir Of Colors). They had perfect screen chemistry together, very cerebral in nature. In that way it reminded me of the classic Korean dramas I watched in the early 2000's and fell in love with. It was directed by Jo Eunsol based on a derivative script written by Kim Gyeongmin.
The Story:
Main office manager Kang Si Woo (Seo In Guk) at Saeum Electronics Corporation in Seoul is a rather emotionally distant overseer of lower level employees and has been there for fourteen years, becoming rather bored with his daily routine. His middle aged female boss Han U Jin (Kim Jung Young, Pro Bono, Jirisan) seems very fond of him, however, and protects him even when occasional criticism surfaces about him and how cold he seems toward the employees under his watch.
The latest project of the company is adding AI capabilities to the household appliances they design and produce, the latest being an AI controlled refrigerator with all kinds of new capabilities. During a company meeting on its development one talented female employee shines through: Cha Ji Yoon (Park Ji Hyun) who has been working rather quietly in the company for seven years and is presently being noticed more at work for her courage in bringing up, and strongly suggesting, technical improvements that would make this AI refrigerator the best on the market, perhaps even in the whole world.
Not only is female boss Han U Jin noticing her talents more but the handsome office manager Kang Si Woo is, too. He becomes intrigued by her strong work ethic and brilliance. She never seems bored at work, unlike him, and she is respected by all her co-workers. He rarely smiles but she smiles a lot. She radiates warmth and discipline.
In her romantic life she has been disappointed, especially by her latest boyfriend named Kim Goo Won (Yoon Jung Hoon) who cheated on her and broke up with her with no warning. So she had poured herself even more into work than before, in an effort to heal from that broken relationship. Kang Si Woo had been disappointed in love as well, his beautiful wife Soojin (Park Ye Young) had cheated on him and divorced him.
Perhaps it was the failure of these two romantic relationships that helped create the situation where lonely and distant office manager Si Woo decided to approach the talented, warm personality Ji Yoon more professionally at work, and even more compellingly at company social events as well. They wisely begin improving the work situation in their main department for all the employees, and they begin to thrive as well as a couple. (One male employee whom I particularly enjoyed watching was cherub face Jeon Kee Tae played by actor Kang Ki Doong - from WONDERfools - he was so cute!).
Then when a rather nasty, jealous mid-level employee named Youngsam (Hong Woo Jin) has the audacity to try and claim Ji Yoon's ideas for the new refrigerator as his own our office manager Kang Si Woo is having none of it and confronts him publicly on his lie. This makes Ji Yoon feel even more grateful to Kang Si Woo, at work, and socially as well.
Eventually Si Woo and Ji Yoon's relationship becomes full-blown romantic in nature. At first they try to hide it but eventually everyone recognizes it. Other relationships at work between employees become more romantic as well, for instance the young dedicated workers Yoon No Ah (Kang Mi Na) and Cho Ga Eul (Choi Kyung Hoon) who off-work is a talented musician.
The happiness at successful Saeum Electronics Corporation becomes amazing, resulting in great success financially, but in a strange twist of fate it's office manager Kang Si Woo who surprisingly considers resigning and perhaps starting his own electronics business in future. This potential choice alarms Ji Yoon; she wants him to be happy, but why sacrifice all he has achieved at Saeum to start anew from scratch? She wonders too how they will survive as a couple if he suddenly loses all the work and financial gains he has made over the years at their corporation.
Actress Park Ji Hyun and Seo In Guk's performances here are outstanding, and they have a delightful and mature chemistry together. Most of the supporting cast is wonderful too. In addition, in a few scenes when the action leaves Seoul and goes to the beach-side the cinematography is literally gorgeous.
