Undercover Miss Hong (2026) is an enjoyable spy romantic comedy series starring Park Shin Hye (Tree of Heaven, Stairway To Heaven, Flower Boys Next Door, Heirs, Pinocchio, You're Beautiful, Heartstrings, Memories Of The Alhambra, Don't Worry I'm A Ghost, Doctors, Doctor Slump, Little House In The Forest) as a 35-year-old female detective who must disguise herself as a 20-year-old rookie employee to investigate money that is moving irregularly at an investment and security corporation (read: slush fund).

The series has a perfect blend of romantic comedy and investigative tension. Park Shin Hye gives a great performance in a role that has to switch between two identities as a professional detective and an awkward rookie corporate employee. Because she still looks so young in real life she easily plays both ages 35 and 20 with great accuracy and vibrancy.

Which Korean drama fan doesn't know the brilliant actress Park Shin Hye? Probably only newbie K-drama fans. I've been watching her for twenty years! She makes us fall in love with her every time she appears on screen, with all her spectacular performances, and this time she returns in a series which is full of suspense and frequent laughs. It must be said that Park Shin Hye is the Queen of Comedy. There is no role that she can't do when it comes to this genre. She's so naturally funny. Although the series is a comedy, it also has some more serious, interesting themes: for example, the conflict between personal identity and professional duties. In addition, balancing sincerity with deception for a good cause, plus questions of justice in the business world: her character has to live two lives at once, and doing so is not as easy as it seems to her as she begins the journey.

The series was written by Moon Hyeon Kyeong and directed by Park Sun Ho and together they created a delectable morsel that reached up to the 13% range in Korea, and was very popular on Netflix streaming as well.

The Story:
Our story begins with the notoriously feisty 35 year old financial detective Hong Keum Bo (Park Shin Hye), working for the elite Financial Supervisory Service, being assigned to investigate a suspicious slush fund being hidden by certain elder corrupt family members who control Hanmin Investment & Securities Corporation. The elder son Kang Myeong Hwi (the always thoughtful actor Choi Won Young of Mystic Pop-Up Bar, Twinkling Watermelon, Twenty Again) had privately asked her to investigate his own family members for the corruption. Partly because he seemed so pitiful to her, Keum Bo agrees to go undercover as a young rookie intern at the company, to try and find the evidence of the slush fund. She even takes the identity and name of her younger sister Hong Jang Mi (Shin Yu Na) so that she would not be easily recognized at Hanmin; she begins to wear younger girl styles of clothes and sport a short haircut. The conflict between these two identities of Keum Bo and Jang Mi creates many humorous situations during the series' run.

While in rookie training at Hanmin, she meets and soon befriends her fellow rookie interns, including Kang No Ra (Choi Ji Su), Kim Mi Sook (Kang Chae Young), and Go Bok Hee (Ha Yoon Kyung). Lots of hilarity results soon enough between them all when they begin to suspect the supposedly 20 year old Jang Mi is much older than she pretends to be.

The situation turns more serious when the company's CEO, Shin Jeong Woo (Ko Kyoung Pyo, Chicago Typewriter, Tomorrow's Cantabile, Jealousy Incarnate, Love In Contract) enters the picture. He is startled when he first sees this Hong Jang Mi, who reminds him of a girl he had loved years earlier. Of course Keum Bo as Jang Mi recognizes him too and she has to work twice as hard to escape detection. Of course there are sparks starting up between them, both suppressed. There is an attraction there, mixed with suspicion, so what will Keum Bo do next? She can't risk being discovered by him, in case he might be in on the illegal slush fund at the company.

It also becomes problematic when another young man at work seems to be attracted to "Jang Mi" and helps her out on several occasions. His named is Albert Oh (Cho Han Gyeol), and while she is grateful for his help on the job, she still tries to keep him at an emotional distance. Despite that, will Albert end up being her knight in shining armor?

Undercover Miss Hong is a series that comes with freshness and fun, that blends comedy and drama perfectly. Park Shin Hye's performance in this challenging role is extremely striking and impressive. She really steals the show here, despite all the outstanding supporting cast. She is able to perfectly balance comedy and seriousness.

The series, its multiple two-dimensional characters and good storytelling rhythm, make it one of the most addictive series of 2026 for the Korean drama fan. Get ready for a journey filled with laughter and excitement as Hong Keum Bo goes on her secret quest for the truth of the corruption at Hanmin Corporation. Enjoy!
