I was having a hard time at work when I decided to give Our Sticky Love (2026) on Netflix a try once I was home at night to relax. A romantic comedy was just what I needed at that time, not a dark melodrama. I don't think this drama was intellectually brilliant but then again I didn't want to watch anything that required my brain to work overtime after I came home from a trying day at work.

I also liked the two main leads in this drama a lot and they both did a good job with their roles. Lead actor was Jung Hae In (Love Next Door, Snowdrop, A Piece Of Your Mind, D.P. 1 and 2, Something In The Rain, While You Were Sleeping, Goblin) and the lead actress was Ha Young (Boyfriend On Demand, Face Me, Doona!, Fix You) and they both had good chemistry together. Admin Jill and I both agreed that it was long overdue to give this beauty a lead role in Korean dramas instead of just supporting roles.

The series takes a plot that sounds like the beginning of a psycho-thriller amnesia story and turns it into a weirdly warm and enjoyable rom-com. I was delighted at the humor in the series, written by Mo Ji Hye, and directed by Kim Jang Han who also did a good job directing Do You Like Brahms?. It's definitely worth a watch if you want an enjoyable, lighthearted Korean drama to enjoy at the end of a long day.

The Story:

Go Eun Se (Ha Young) is a rising prosecutor who is investigating a network of powerful criminals but then she gets into an accident (?) and loses all her memories. Just at a moment when she didn't even know what her name was, a young man named Jang Tae Ha (Jung Hae In), a former national team boxer-turned-boxing coach in a rural village, with a history of involvement in the underworld, appears before her with a simple but devastating claim: he is her boyfriend!

What happens after that is the development of a new coexistence in their small village, in the middle of rural Korea, where the relationship of two traumatized people is woven from small truths mixed with big lies. Tae Ha's decision to woo her again is not a deception to cover anything about their past lives, but a choice that is motivated by a mixture of selfish and caring motives. This makes the journey of the story more complicated than a typical rom-com plot would provide.

Along for the ride are the usual veteran character Korean actors playing the elders in the village who are sometimes more trouble than help for both of them. They are usually presented with quite a lot of humor, though, for instance the wonderful actor Choi Dae Hoon (The WONDERFools) playing the physician, so they are easy to forgive for their annoying idiosyncrasies. Plus nefarious characters from both their pasts, like gangsters, re-enter their lives and try to cause trouble but they eventually get what's coming to them, too.

Lots of surprises are in store for the audience as they watch this couple fall in love, basically for the first time. I think most viewers will really enjoy Our Sticky Love so check it out on Netflix and make up your own mind.
