I enjoyed the performances of the two main leads in Forecasting Love And Weather (jtbc, 2022), Park Min Young (I'll Go To You When The Weather Is Nice) and Song Kang (Love Alarm), but honestly I was less than impressed by the other performances in the drama and the often choppy flow of the narrative written by Sun Young; I think if the writing had been better I would have liked the drama far more than I did and given it a much higher grade. The drama strives to mix the work life of people who work in a meteorological office in Seoul, and how hard it can be for them to balance their work lives and their personal ones.

If you like the two main leads I would definitely give it a chance (as of this writing it is streaming on Netflix) because they are super-duper, but the other characters simply did not impress me, with the exception of the veteran actress Kim Mi Kyung (Master's Sun) who played Park Min Young's character's mother. She's always fine in every drama. As for our second male and female lead characters I failed to warm to them at all and liked them in other dramas much better than here, actor Yoon Park (Fanletter Please) and Yura (Radio Romance). It wasn't really their fault, for everything negative was due to the writing, not their acting. They did the best they could with unimpressive, selfish characters.

The main characters work in a weather forecasting department and the symbolism of weather changing seemed to coincide with the flow of the various character's relationships in the drama. For instance, storms would appear on the horizon when characters' personal relationships were on the rocks, and then the weather would appear sunny and clear when those relationships became less stressed. The predictability of it proved boring to me.

The drama was directed by Cha Young Hoon who also directed much better dramas such as Bridal Mask, Shark, and When The Camellia Blooms. However the lackadaisical script here in Forecasting Love And Weather didn't give him much to work with that wasn't predictable in the extreme.

The Story:

Forecasting Love And Weather tells the story of how a noona romance (older woman, younger man) develops between two quite different co-workers, and how they have to overcome their own personal hardships to try to make their relationship work. Jin Ha Kyung (Park Min Young) works as the general forecaster in the Korean Meteorological Administration in Seoul. She is well recognized for being smart, reliable and calm, however, she gets involved in dramatic personal tempests after her fiance Han Ki Joon (Yoon Park), who also works at the company, cheats on her with a pretty reporter who works in the same building as them, named Chae Yoo Jin (Yura).

\

After the ugly end of that relationship Ha Kyung decides to never date a co-worker again, but her determination to remain true to that decision starts to melt away when she meets good looking Lee Shi Woo (Song Kang) a smart young weather forecaster trainee employee who is transferred to her main office. However he also happens to be the recent ex of the reporter Yoo Jin, the pretty girl who had been involved in Ha Kyung’s own break-up situation with her fiance Ki Joon. That guarantees more stress on the horizon.

As Ha Kyung and Shi Woo begin to work closely together in their forecasting duties Ha Kyung and Shi Woo’s personal chemistry begins to overflow and they become intimate. Ha Kyung believes Shi Woo will be leaving soon as his position at work is supposedly temporary, but soon he surprises her with the news of his permanent transfer to her department. She has to come to terms with her own failure in staying true to her resolve to not become romantically linked with someone else in the company.

After realizing their true feelings for one other they decide to pursue a secret office romance despite Ha Kyung’s previous decision not to get involved romantically with anyone at work. They both agree on keeping their relationship a secret for as long as possible, and to decide that if anyone finds out about them, they will break up. However soon enough people catch on, including Ha Kyung's ex Ki Joon, who doesn't seem pleased at all at this turn of events, even though it was he who basically broke off their relationship by cheating on Ha Kyung first.

The rising tension in their jobs at the office, plus with their exes who also work there, plus numerous serious family problems as well, all contribute to an on again, off again type of personal relationship. Will their growing romantic bond despite all odds be strong enough to survive all their challenges?
