I decided to watch this simple romance on Viki.com because I had enjoyed two of the three main leads in a previous drama they did together in 2022 called Dear M, actress Roh Jeong Eui and actor Jo Joong Young. I had also loved the first male lead here, actor Lee Chae Min, in a previous drama I had been emotionally touched by, called See You In My 19th Life (2023). Although this romance in this new drama was fairly predictable I still found it enjoyable to watch after a long day at work. It helped me unwind and to root for the characters. I noticed online that most fans wanted the female lead character to end up with the second male lead character, but I knew going in that that wasn't likely to happen for it hardly ever does in Korean dramas. Maybe the fact that they were in that previous drama together had something to do with that desire. I didn't share it because I know each new drama is its own story, with different plot and character details.
From Left to Right: Jo Joong Young, Roh Jeong Eui, Lee Chae Min
The Story:
We meet a beautiful young college student named Ban Hee Jin (Roh Jeong Eui) whose nickname is Bunny. She is a very gifted student finishing up a degree in Art as a Sculpture Major at Yein University. Always determined never to fall in love with a man just because of any good looks that he might possess, she instead tells everyone who will listen that she only wants to fall in love based on a man's caring, nice personality and good character instead.
However, her first such relationship, a young man who wasn't exactly striking-looking in appearance, but one whom she was convinced was a good-natured young man with a good character, ended up disappointing her. In time their relationship fizzled and disintegrated, as it turned out his real character was not very nice at all! Bunny was embarrassed by this relationship failing and among some of her competitive college classmates she was laughed at for being fooled by him.
Should a man with good looks be immediately dismissed as not worthy of her attention? Does good looks mean he automatically is not to be trusted?
Bunny then becomes determined that she will now give only good looking guys a chance to date her. Her troubles really begin as four young men with various different physical charms appear enamored with her at the same time and vie for her attention, including the most promising new college student on campus Hwang Jae Yeol (Lee Chae Min), and the more familiar college student Cha Ji Won (Jo Joon Young).
Everyone she knows has different opinions as well about which guy she should allow to touch her heart anew. As a sculpture major she knows all too well what an attractive facial appearance can mean to the success of her sculptures. Why shouldn't it be the same in her own love life? Can she have a successful relationship with a good looking guy, especially one whom many other girls not so secretly crush on?
New student Hwang Jae Yeol becomes a representative of the visual design department and he is soon respected and loved by his peers. He has a strong and warm personality in addition to very good looks. His ambition is to become an art director after graduation.
Also student Cha Ji Won seems like a perfect guy. He is the grandson of a chaebol family, handsome, smart, and has a nice personality. He is the type of young man whom most female students on campus would dream of falling in love with. However, now Bunny has to decide which of these handsome, desirable young men would make the perfect mate for her. There are many ups and downs ahead for all the amorous characters but ultimately it is Bunny who has to make the final decision whom to give her heart to for keeps.
Crushology 101 is available to watch on both Viki and Viu websites. Enjoy the cute romances!
