The way I found out about this older drama was due to my strange attachment to the handsome late actor Lee Sun Kyun (RIP) and all of his unique on screen charms. I happened to stumble upon this show as I went through his acting resume after his tragic suicide near Christmas 2023. Now keep in mind, after seeing almost all of his appearances in dramas, this one especially caught my eye because it was a comedy in the same vein as his most famous comedy drama Pasta, with Gong Hyo Jin. My favorite drama of his is the melodrama My Mister, but I like him in comedies too. He displayed a great sense of humor in them, and did so here in My Sweet Seoul as well. As I write this review it is still available for viewing on Viki, but since you never know when they will delete the older classic dramas I wouldn't wait too long if you are his devoted fan.

“My Sweet Seoul”, which literally can be translated into “My Sweet City”, is the story of the 31 year old leading lady character who works at a magazine named Oh Eun Soo (Choi Kang Hee, Thank You, Queen Of Mystery), and her interesting love life as she is torn between two men, the younger Yun Tae Oh (Ji Hyun Woo, Queen In Hyun's Man, Awl, Trot Lovers, Lonely Enough To Love), a man she met in a bar, and the man closer to her own age and temperament, Kim Young Soo (Lee Sun Kyun), who was introduced to her by her boss. Young Soo enters her life as an even more promising prospect for love. Then on top of those two attractive men a platonic friendship she had had with another man for years, Nam Yu Jun (Kim Young Jae, A Love To Kill, Numbers, Maestra, Romance In The House) suddenly seems like it might turn romantic too when he confesses he's in love with her and would like to get married. All of us women should be this lucky, right?

A lot of reviews I have read on this drama really don’t give this show the justice it deserves, not to mention a lot of them are just plain confusing. They add things into the summaries that don’t really make an appearance in the story. As I am not one to give away too many plot points to the story I will just say this romantic story is not slow. It has a good pace and a nice mixture of funny scenes and serious scenes. If you are looking for a drama that is similar in some ways to Pasta then you should absolutely watch this. As soon as this story starts up you can get a taste of all the characters' emotions and personalities fairly quickly. Nothing tries your patience.

Not only does this story revolve around the life of Eun Soo, but it follows her two best girl friends Nam Yoo Hee (Moon Jung Hee), an aspiring theater actress, and Jane (In Jae Young), a cute jewelry designer. The three of their romantic lives are full of fun twists and turns. They are all single women who find love, lose love, and are trying to ultimately choose men who will be the best matches for themselves.

The story line of this romantic drama is more passionate and realistic than any other one I have watched, and ir had me hooked onto it like no other. The way this drama is executed and directed is simply Art. We get an insight into the mind of Eun Soo and get the feelings, the hurt, and the love that she is feeling with each encounter with each of the men. I can’t even put into words the happiness, the anger, the frustration, the tears that I cried while watching this drama.

If you are looking for a really deep drama that doesn’t have short shallow emotions I totally recommend My Sweet Seoul. If you are looking for a drama that will keep you glued to the screen for an hour for each episode, go ahead and watch this. If you are looking for an unconventional romantic comedy drama I raise and salute my hat to this drama as simply Unforgettable!
